Electro-ejaculation in London

Electroejaculation is a technique used to retrieve semen from men who have difficulty ejaculating by conventional means.

Men may undergo electroejaculation for fertility reasons if they are unable to ejaculate naturally due to conditions such as spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, or other neurological disorders that affect the nerves involved in ejaculation. It can be a useful procedure also for men who have psychosexual difficulties leading to problems producing a sperm sample necessary for IUI/IVF/ICSI fertility cycles.

The procedure tends to involve a general anaesthetic and is a day case treatment. Unless a man has a complete spinal cord injury, with a high injury level, and then no anaesthesia is needed. During the procedure, a small probe is put into the rectum producing an electrical stimulation to the nerves that control ejaculation. This will commonly lead to ejaculation and sperm can be collected and cryopreserved for future assisted reproductive cycles.
